RE: THE FRACTIONAL GENERAL COUNSEL SEAT
Your Fractional General Counsel. Embedded, senior, and never billed by the hour.
Call it fractional counsel, a Fractional GC or outsourced general counsel; the seat is the same. An experienced general counsel joins your leadership cadence for set days each month, owns your legal risk end to end, and costs a fraction of a full-time hire.
What the seat covers
Your Fractional GC drafts, reviews and negotiates commercial contracts against a playbook built for your business; keeps employment agreements enforceable and terminations clean; supports financings and M&A from term sheet through closing; manages disputes before they become litigation; and keeps governance, board materials and corporate records defensible. The scope is the full general counsel function, not a practice area.
How the mandate runs
The first 30 days deliver a legal health check across corporate records, key contracts, employment documents and privacy posture, risk-ranked so you know exactly where you stand. Days 10 to 20 codify your contract playbook. Days 20 to 30 close the highest-risk gaps. From there, the mandate runs on a monthly cadence with a written plan reviewed every month, async access with a one-business-day response commitment, and counsel days scheduled to your rhythm. AI handles first-pass review; counsel reviews everything.
Who retains a Fractional GC
Funded startups and scale-ups that need real counsel without a $250K+ hire. Companies whose contract and regulatory volume has outgrown ad hoc lawyers. Established organizations bridging a GC departure, a leave, or a slow executive search. In-house teams that need senior overflow capacity without a headcount request.
How it compares

| Pricing model | Teaser rate, then custom quoted | Hourly, six-minute increments | Published flat monthly fee |
| Response time | Varies by matched lawyer's availability | Bills for every call and email | One business day, same rate for urgent |

Questions
What does a Fractional General Counsel cost?
The seat is $2,450 per month, which includes one counsel day, async access, program administration and a monthly mandate review. Additional capacity is $1,650 per day, at the same rate however short the notice and subject to availability, and additional officer seats are $2,250 per month each, and every seat includes one counsel day. A seat annualizes to $29,400 against $250,000+ all-in for a full-time hire.
Is a Fractional GC the same as outside counsel?
No. Outside counsel is reactive and bills by the hour. A Fractional GC is embedded: on your email domain, inside your meetings, working from your playbook, accountable for the whole legal function rather than individual matters.
Can the Fractional GC manage our existing law firms?
Yes. Specialist work (tax, IP litigation, foreign counsel) still goes to specialists; your Fractional GC scopes it, instructs it and manages the spend so it comes back useful and on budget.
How many hours does a Fractional GC actually work each month?
Capacity is measured in counsel days, not hours. The base seat includes one counsel day (up to 8 hours) per month; most active mandates add 2 to 4 additional days at $1,650 each, landing between 24 and 40 hours monthly, the same range cited across the fractional GC market generally.
Do we get the same lawyer every time?
Yes. The mandate is led by one named, accountable person, not a lawyer matched from a bench or network. All three of our lawyers, Samir Murji, Ahsan Mian and Sabrina Murji, can hold fractional seats including director mandates, but your Fractional GC relationship has one named lead throughout.
What happens if we need more support during a financing?
Add days at $1,650 each, at the same rate however short the notice, subject to availability. Days are requested in advance and confirmed; work outside a booked day is billed at the standard hourly rate. Deal leadership itself (running the financing to closing) is scoped and priced flat as a transaction mandate rather than metered by the day.
