Our approach to AI, security and privacy

How Murjis uses AI

We use AI where it improves your experience: helping you onboard faster, organizing the information you share, supporting the customization of Murjis-developed templates and helping your legal team identify gaps, priorities and recommended next steps. In practice that means our assistant, Rachel, reads the documents you upload to the client portal and files them, keeps your onboarding conversation on track, drafts first passes for your lawyers to review, and answers questions about how the platform works. The result is less time spent bringing your lawyers up to speed, fewer repetitive questions and legal support that is more tailored, consistent and proactive.

AI does not decide anything on its own. It does not give advice, release documents to you, or send anything on your behalf.

How client information is protected

Each client works in its own space in the client portal. Access is limited to the people supporting that mandate: your fractional executive, the Murjis team members assigned to your file, and the people at your company you authorize. Every sign-in is by password, and access to documents is logged. Files are encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure providers. We use controlled, purpose-specific systems rather than general-purpose consumer tools, and each client’s data is kept separate from every other client’s.

Data location and retention

The client portal, its database and the documents you upload are hosted in Canada. Working copies of client files are mirrored to our firm’s Google Workspace shared drive, which is administered by Murjis and accessible only to the Murjis team. When AI reads a document, that document is processed by our AI provider for the duration of the task and is not retained by the provider for training.

The counsel file, meaning the record of the legal services we provided, is retained for the period the Law Society of Ontario requires. Working files, such as drafts and copies you have uploaded, are yours to remove from the portal at any time.

Client controls

From the Data & Privacy page of the portal you can see what we hold about your company, export the available portal data, and remove eligible working files. You can ask us to correct anything that is wrong, and you can ask us to delete working data we no longer need. Where a request touches the counsel file we will explain what we are required to keep and why. Requests can also be sent to info@murjis.com.

AI providers and other subprocessors

We use a small number of providers to run the platform. Each is used for a single purpose and has access only to what that purpose requires.

• Anthropic, whose Claude models power Rachel and our document reading. Used through Anthropic’s commercial API, under terms that do not permit training on client data.
• Supabase, which hosts the portal’s database and file storage in Canada.
• Netlify, which hosts the portal and this website.
• Google Workspace, for the firm’s email, calendars and the shared drive that mirrors client files.
• Cal.com, for scheduling counsel days and meetings.
• Stripe, for invoicing and payment. Card details are held by Stripe, never by Murjis.

We will update this list if a provider changes. We do not sell client information to anyone.

Lawyer oversight and accountability

Every mandate is led and supervised by a lawyer licensed by the Law Society of Ontario. AI supports our lawyers; it does not replace their judgment. Our lawyers review the work, provide the advice, and remain professionally responsible for the services you receive. Nothing produced with AI assistance reaches you as a final deliverable until a lawyer has reviewed and released it, and where AI materially assists a deliverable we say so, consistent with Law Society guidance on technological competence and supervision.
